All in the Family Glam Girl!

It was my niece's 9th Birthday last week and she had a Glam Girl party at a local kids hair dressing studio. This kids hair dressing studio is like no other..!! You sit in fancy chairs to have your hair cut and after you can play video games or have your nails painted and make up done! MAKE UP?? lol.... WOW what fun. They also have a glam studio in the back for birthday parties so this is what Kyla chose to do for her birthday party this year. Kyla and her group of friends picked out a fun outfit from a big wardrobe of fancy dresses, had their hair done up all fancy and sparkly, danced around singing to funky music and of course had their fingernails painted!--ohhh to be 9 again!! Alyssa was right in there enjoying every minute. Being the youngest she got a lot of attention from all the girls. She came home exhausted! She was pooped right out from all the fun! Alyssa went down for a nap and when she woke up all her nail polish was on her pillowcase...LOL.. SHE WAS DEVASTATED! i was laughing so hard, well inside of course... poor girl!--she is only 3 so i guess it's a good thing they didn't use REAL nail polish...haha.. ; )

I thought it would be fun to create a fun glam "girly" card! This is what i came up with! I used the new Sale-a-bration DSP - Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper along with a flower from Awash with Flowers set for the dress. Isn't it the sweetest!..

Using the new Label Framelits I cut out a Crumb Cake Label and ran it through the big shot with the perfect polka dots textured embossing folder. Then punched a 2-1/2" circle in the middle of the label and placed it over my little girl image.

Hope you like... : )

Valentine Post Card

I love this card created by Teresa Kline.  I used it as the inspiration to create this Valentine Post Card.  When I was searching through my stash of DSP, I didn't have anything close the what I needed to create the effect of the black and white DSP, so I created my own.  I stamped the medallion image from the Artistic Etchings stamp set in Basic Black ink onto Whisper White card stock over and over again to create the patterned paper you see in this card.

Products used for this project:

Stamp Sets:  Winter Post, French Foliage, Artistic Etchings, Nature Walk

Card Stock:  Confetti White, Whisper White, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Basic Grey (textured)

Ink:  Basic Black, Basic Grey, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White (Craft)

Accessories and More: Heart to Heart Punch, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch, 1/2" Circle Punch, Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine, Dimensionals, Cutter Kit, Stampin' Sponges, Sewing Machine.

Pinwheel Club Card

For club this month we created a cute "in colour" pinwheel card. Here are 2 versions of it.

This first one uses the bracket edge die from the new Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies. Gives the card a nice hilly grassy look, doesn't it?

Don't you just love the clouds! I used the cupcake punch--super fun! The circle punch was used for the sun and the postage stamp punch was used for the pinwheels. For the background I used the striped embossing folder on whisper white card stock, you may be able to see the texture better in the last photo below.

The second card uses the rotary cutter from the Cutter Kit to make the hilly grass. It was super quick and easy....give it a try!! --

Place a piece of Lucky Limeade card stock on a cutting mat and randomly cut out a hill shape with the rotary cutter and then slightly snip the top edge from one end to the other with you paper snips...crumple lightly and voila you have some hilly grass!! Add a bit of Lucky Limeade Ribbon and twine at the bottom to finish off your card.

First die cut a top note piece out with your Big Shot. Then place the longer side of the Top Note peice onto the die along the short side of the top note shape.

Once you run it through the Big Shot all the sides will then look even all the way around.

New Framelit and Edgelit Dies! - Apothecary Art Card

I CASED this card from the Occasions Mini Catalogue. If you've seen the Mini you'll notice a similar card on the front cover! I'm so excited about this mini!! There are so many "MUST HAVE" new products in this amazing catalogue. If you have NOT received your Mini Catalogue yet and you are a purchasing customer of mine (or plan to be), pop me an email with your current address so i can get one out in the mail to you! : )

There is more excitement to come...later this month, Stampin' Up's annual Sale-a-bration (SAB) catalogue comes out and you can earn free stamps or products with every $60 purchase. To add to the excitement, I also have a special treat in store for upcoming SAB celebration!! You'll have to keep your eye on our blog and of course my Monthly Newsletter due out next week for more information.

How many new products do you see on this card? I love the new framelit and edgelit dies!! You will notice i simplified the card from the original card shown on the front of the Mini. There was A LOT going on so I toned it down to focus mainly on the new framelit and edgelit dies! I loved the layout and the look of the NEW adorning accents edgelit border dies and matching embossing folders so i thought I'd give it a try.

I love how the Apothecary Art stamp set matches the Label Collection Framelit dies. All you have to do is stamp the image you want and then place a label framelit over it and then run it through the Big Shot! Cuts it out perfectly!! I also love the look of the bracket edge border edgelit and how it coordinates with the bracket edge border textured impressions embossing folder.

You may want to use a stamp-a-ma-jig (101049) to stamp your greeting?? OR stamp your greeting before you start to colour!! I didn't stamp my greeting straight!! --i forgot to stamp the greeting BEFORE i coloured!! ; )

Hope you like... : )

With All My Heart - Inlaid Embossing

This is a pretty cool technique! I seen some really neat cards done with the leaves die last year and thought I'd try it with hearts since Valentine's Day is just around the corner.

To emboss the hearts:

Cut or Punch out a white circle using your 2-1/2" circle punch or circle scissors plus (or largest circle on the circles #2 die). Then punch out different size and colour hearts using the Heart to Heart Punch. Randomly adhere the hearts to the white circle. Place the white circle in the Polka Dots embossing folder and run through the big shot. Adhere the white circle to the 2-3/4" cherry cobbler circle which is cut out using the circle scissors plus. Adhere the cherry cobbler circle to the black scallop circle. I placed a piece of sticky strip across the card and pleaded the black satin ribbon before adhering the black scallop circle to the card front.

Products used for this project:

Stamp Sets: With All My Heart (W118134,C118623),

Card Stock: Cherry Cobbler (119685), Basic Black (121045), Pretty in Pink (100459), Whisper White (100730)

Candy Cane Hearts {Tutorial}

Aren't these little heart lollipops adorable?  I saw them last year all over the internet on different blogs around Valentine's Day.  I ran out to the store to see if I could find any left over mini candy canes, but couldn't find any.  I saved the idea, and stocked up on mini candy canes at Christmas time with this craft in mind.  I'm posting this early so that you still have time to hunt down some left over candy canes.

To create this project you'll need:

mini candy canes
4" lollipop ticks (available at big box craft stores in the cake decorating section)
parchement paper
baking sheet
3" x 5" Cellophane Bags (103104)
Rose Red 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (124322)

Preheat your oven to 300 degrees F.  Line a baking sheet with parchement paper.  Unwrap your mini candy canes and place them on a baking sheet as shown below.  (Be sure to leave enough room to place your sticks later.)

Bake them in your oven until they just start to get soft.  They don't need to melt.  I found that they went from just soft enough to overmelted very quickly, so watch them carefully.  I found that it took between 4 and 5 minutes in my oven.  Just after 4 minutes they were perfect.  At 5 minutes, they had melted and flattened out.

Working quickly, while the candy is still warm, place down your stick and pinch the candy a little to form around the stick.

Once the candy was completely cool,  I wrapped them in Stampin' Up!'s 3" x 5" Cellophane Bags and added a ribbon bow.   I'm sure you'll find lots of sweethearts to share these little valentines with :)

Natasha and I have been pouring over the new Occasions Mini Catologue!  Have you seen it yet?  It's filled with tons of gorgeous new accessories and stamp sets.  If you'd like one of your own, please feel free to email me, I'd be happy to send you off one in the mail (Canadian customers only please).

Tons of fun Valentines projects coming up, so stay tuned!

Wow i still can't believe it's the new year! We are finally back to our daily routine and I'm happy to have a bit of quiet time to stamp while the kids are at school!

I had so much fun and lots of smiles when Leigha and i looked back at all the projects we've posted this past year. Thanks Leigha for sharing your favorites along with our readers favorites!
